Scripto are most famous for the Scripto Vu lighter which they began manufactuing in the 1950s. This lighter incorporated a unique wick design which retained the lighter fuel with the result that even after lying for a number of years most Scripto lighters are guaranteed to light immediately.
Scripto's other major innovation in the lighter world was to design a transparent lighter in which advertisments could be placed, these ads were visible when the lighter was first full of fule and also when it was empty.
